Creating the Perfect Elevator Pitch

An Elevator Pitch is a short speech promoting your business and should be deliverable in the time it takes to ride an elevator.  If the conversation inside the elevator in those few seconds is interesting and value adding, the conversation will continue after the elevator ride, and end in a business card exchange or even possibly a scheduled meeting.

The pitch is designed to give the audience just enough information so they will have a sense of what you are talking about and want to know more.   It should not give too much information so they feel overwhelmed and tune you out.

A great elevator pitch has the following elements:

It must create a “WOW” effect.  You want to catch the person’s attention and get them to ask you questions.

It should be clear and concise.  Use of acronyms and jargon should be limited.

The intent is to get a conversation started, not to close the deal.

You must be able to communicate it in 30 seconds or less.

Rather than introducing yourself as an Insurance Agent, try introducing yourself as a Wealth Creation Specialist. I help Individuals retire 7 years earlier than they thought they would.

Or I’m a Dream Coach. I protect people’s dreams.
